GAMA Policy Roadmap Series: AFFORDABILITY — Building a Sustainable Future for Medical Practice

Monday, October 5, 2026 (6:00 PM - 7:00 PM) (MDT)

Description

Patient access cannot be sustained without a health care environment in which physicians and medical practices can remain viable.

Join GAMA President Dr. Gabrielle Adams, President-Elect Dr. Mark Epstein, and GAMA leadership for the final conversation in our GAMA Policy Roadmap Series, focused on AFFORDABILITY.

This pillar addresses the economics of delivering medical care in New Mexico — including physician payment and reimbursement, independent practice sustainability, access to capital and investment, Medicaid and public payer sustainability, and physician workforce recruitment and retention. The Roadmap recognizes that financial pressures on medical practices ultimately affect patients through longer waits, fewer choices, reduced specialty access, and greater difficulty recruiting and retaining physicians.

The first 20–25 minutes will provide an overview of GAMA’s goals and priorities. The remainder of the one-hour session will be an open discussion about the financial and workforce realities facing physicians and practices across New Mexico.

We want members to help us answer a critical question:

What policies will make New Mexico a place where physicians can build sustainable practices, remain in their communities, and continue providing high-quality care?

Bring your experiences, questions, and ideas. The goal is not only to explain GAMA’s Roadmap — it is to identify the physician voices and real-world experiences that will help us advance it.
